Our Story: How It All Started
Blazing Chicken Shack II wasn’t just born from a love of good food—it was born from a passion for bringing people together. In March 2017, we opened our doors at 5560 East 33rd Avenue in Denver, CO, with one goal in mind: to share the soul food that runs deep in our hearts. We’re not just about serving meals; we’re about creating a space where people feel like family.
A Dream Turned Into Reality
Before Blazing Chicken Shack II, we were busy frying chicken at Mr. A's Lounge in the Clayton neighborhood. Leola Gant and Rhonda Banks, two of the co-owners, worked together at the lounge and then took a leap of faith, buying a food truck, Blazing Chicken Shack. After serving the community with our food truck for a year and a half, we partnered with Gail and Ray Moore to open our first brick-and-mortar location. That’s when Blazing Chicken Shack II was born.
A Taste of Our Roots
Soul food is a part of who we are. Leola’s roots in Mississippi inspired many of the dishes we serve today, like catfish, oxtails, fried chicken, and pork chops. We also offer southern sides like macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and yams. These dishes bring the flavor and warmth of home to our restaurant, making us a unique spot in Denver for those craving authentic soul food.
A Home For The Community
At Blazing Chicken Shack II, we believe in more than just great food—we’re committed to our community. Located in Park Hill, we’ve built lasting relationships with our neighbors, and we treat everyone who walks through our doors like family. Our warm, welcoming atmosphere is just as important as our food, and we’re grateful for the connections we’ve made since opening in 2017.
